An evening of informal discussion with young men, many of whom are "at-risk" or potentially "at risk" of educational under achievement, criminality and anti-social behaviour, from the Mile End area in partnership with the Mile End Community Project. Issues explored include Islamic chivalry and good adab, in a lively contemporary way, leaving plenty of time for young people to ask questions and express their views.

Rami Nashashibi opened the evening with a compelling presentation on urban music and its impact on young Muslims and its connection to African Muslim culture. He also explored the processes of cultural development. The meeting went on to discuss: the current state of Muslim urban music; what the "Hip Hop Islam" generation looks like; the role Muslim urban music play in community development; the direction Muslim urban music going; creating more opportunities for Muslim women artists and performers; and innovative ways to promote existing talent and develop new talent. A lively debate was recorded and the transcript will be made available online.
